On steep trails, there are switchbacks where people stop to catch their breath or take in inspiring views. This image was taken just up from Crater Lake below Maroon Bells, near Aspen, CO. Graffiti scars grow here. I have walked this path for close to 30 years. As my scars diminish, I feel more for the trees, wanting them to be free of their marks.
