Graffiti art is an element of direct expression. This is one of my favorite examples because it contains passages with four qualities revealing integrity. The first is whole names are used (Jeff Procknow and Loudermilk) letting people know the tree is now a real reference. Second, a wounding claim emulates human trauma (is a HOMO). Third, someone gave an honest response (I KNOW) forcing this communication to resolve in the truth. The awareness generated with this tiny conversation enriches a sense of wellbeing and community. When I read this graffiti I felt the veneer of fear and violence fall away as the virtue of knowledge persists (The scar grew unaltered to become a meaningful legible welt.)
